Flo’s Friendship Kitchen

Flo’s Friendship Kitchen (“Flo’s”) is located in the First United Methodist Church. In 2009 Flo’s served 5,988 meals to 110-130 different people monthly. In December Flo’s became an active member of Food Share enabling it to buy food at an average of 17 cents per pound. (This is a different program than the Food Cupboard.) Flo’s serves lunch on Wednesday and dinners on Fridays and everyone gets a take home meal. Flo’s has a commercially certified kitchen. In 2009 the Franciscan Order donated $2,500 to install a commercial dishwasher. Flo’s was formed in 1983 and has distributed tens of thousands of meals to Stafford residents. It became a part of Safe Net in 2003 and since then has served approximately 30,000 meals.
